A deeper look at what HIWC has achieved, the people who lead it, and the individuals and organisations who have made it possible.
← Back to HomepageThe Centre has performed very well since its inception in 2019. It has graduated 170 trainees in various skills across 7 batches. Our Literacy Classes are populated mostly by housewives from the surrounding area and have so far graduated 48 students, most of whom have been issued the equivalent of a Primary School Certificate by the Kano State Agency for Mass Education.
Our training programme has proven to be very effective in curtailing youth unemployment. Many of our graduates are currently engaged in running their own businesses.
After the usual skills acquisition programme, the Centre organises an Entrepreneurship Seminar for the benefit of its graduates. The last such seminar was held on November 13, 2021, and has played a significant role in encouraging trainees to start their own businesses.
Skills Graduates — 170 trainees have completed vocational training across Garment & Tailoring, Knitting, Computer & Creative Media, Hospitality & Catering, and Leather Crafts.
Literacy Graduates — 48 students have completed Post-Literacy classes, with most receiving the equivalent of a Primary School Certificate from the Kano State Agency for Mass Education.
Entrepreneurship — the Centre runs an Entrepreneurship Seminar after every intake cycle to equip graduates with the business skills to become self-employed.
Employment Impact — many graduates are currently running their own businesses, directly reducing youth unemployment in the Mariri community and beyond.
